“Rhythms” with Chloe: 1:30-2:30pm Approaching and studying improvisation in bellydance is an important and crucial part of your practice. One of the best ways to learn better improv skills is to study different movement patterns and tricks with how to listen to rhythms. This workshop will teach you different ways to phrase your movement patterns on top of different rhythms.

“Instrumental Taqsim” with Omega: 2:45-3:45pm The taqsim is a segment of music where a solo instrument improvises, often with no rhythm underneath. Even though most of us dance to music we have heard before, it’s also important to develop your ability to improvise with live music, where you don’t know what the musician might do next. We will simulate live music by changing the music tracks frequently throughout class, and you’ll learn tips for how to both listen to and respond to taqsim with your body and intuition, creating a mindful movement experience that can be enjoyed both at home or on a stage.
